APCO International is the world's largest organization dedicated to public safety communications. In existence since 1935 - far longer than any other public safety communications association, its more than 15,000 members rely on APCO for their professional needs - from examining standards and issues to providing education, products and services.

The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International (APCO) is a member driven association of communications professionals that provides leadership; influences public safety communications decisions of government and industry; promotes professional development; and, fosters the development and use of technology for the benefit of the public.

APCO works with other organizations like NENA to develop standards, best practices and recommendations for emergency communications professionals. As an American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-accredited Standards Developer (ASD), APCO International is dedicated to ensuring public safety communications has a role in the development of standards that affect our industry. APCO’s standards development activities have a broad scope, ranging from the actual development of standards to the representation of public safety communications in other standards development areas.
